RE: Boxelder Tree .
•
Dear Mr. Nelson, „ > ► f
There was concern expressed in regards to a large boxelder tree in poor condition along the north fence line of your
property and it was requested that the City inspect the tree. I inspected the tree and found that the boxelder is indeed
an imminent risk and should be addressed.
The boxelder has been identified as a risk tree for the following reasons:
• It is evident that the large, broken, hanging branch could fall at any time and the other half of the
union could fail as well. (the crack extends at least three(3)feet down)
• The large lower branch extending into the yard to the south shows a defect next to the trunk which
could possibly lead to separation of the branch from the trunk.
• The tree is a risk to the shed on the property and fence dividing the neighboring property.
If the tree is not removed,at a minimum the co-dominant trunks on the west side should be removed six(6)feet
below the union with the crack. It is our recommendation that the whole tree should be removed.
For tree pruning and removals tree services must be licensed in the City of Oak Park Heights (list is available at City
Hall) and should follow best established practices.
If you have any questions regarding the trees, the site visit, or would like to meet for a site visit, please contact me at
