RE: Concern of Oak Wilt
Dear Mr. Naumann,
There was concern expressed by a resident at Boutwells Landing in regards to numerous red oaks in poor condition
along the south side of Norwich Parkway North near the south entrance to Boutwells Landing. The resident
requested that the City inspect the trees. After inspecting the area it was found that the trees are located in Baytown
Township and the issue should be addressed to the property owner.
It is apparent that the oaks in the area of concern are suffering from oak wilt. Oak wilt is a non-native fungus and it is
responsible for killing many oaks in this state each year. The leaves at the top of the tree crowns are brown and
others are beginning to turn brown,or are completely wilted or dead. Oak wilt is a condition that should be taken care
of when it is noticed to prevent the possible spread to other oaks in the area since it can spread rather rapidly.
If you have any questions regarding the trees,or the site visit, please contact me at(651)-439-4439.
Thank You,
