City of Oak Park Heights 14168 Oak Park Blvd N.•Box 2007•Oak Park Heights,MN 55082•Phone(651)439-4439•Fax 439-0574 Memorandum To: Eric Johnson, City Administrator Cc: Scott Richards, City Planner, Julie Hultman, Building Official From: Lisa Danielson,Arborist Date: 12/10/2015 Re: McKean Village Green -Landscape Plan Review As requested I have reviewed the landscape plan prepared by Savanna Designs for McKean Village Green dated Wednesday, December 9 2015. The following includes my comments and/or recommendations: Landscape Plan (Sheet Number L1 of 1) The landscape plan overall is acceptable for the layout of the variety of trees and shrubs to be planted. The plants included are acceptable and will complement the site well. Tree Inventory A tree inventory of all existing significant trees on site (Sheet Number L1 of 1) needs to be included in a tree inventory and indicated on the landscape plan as well as on a tree inventory sheet. This inventory must include trees that will be protected and trees that will be removed. All trees must have an identification that correlates between both pages (i.e. letter or number), species, size, condition, and removal or protected. Averages are not acceptable. Tree removal areas should have notation removed since they are also noted by a letter and an "X". Tree Replacement The planting list shows a good choice of species, some native or improved cultivars of natives. Most of the trees and plants chosen are hardy under local growing conditions, and relatively insect and disease free. There is good species diversity included in the plan. Once the updated tree inventory is submitted, updated Tree Replacement Formulas also must be submitted. The Plant Schedule should include the symbols used on the plan designating each species, therefore the notation next to the symbols on the plan can be removed. The plants in the Prairie Garden should also be included in the plant schedule. TREE CITY U.S.A. Tree Protection Plan A Tree Protection Plan must be submitted areas for tree protection were only indicated on the Landscape Plan, details were not included (Sheet L1 of 1). Landscape Details and Notes A Landscape Details and Notes section was not included and must be included with the final plans. Other The Landscape Guidelines for Developers on the City's website should be referenced. This document is located in the Development Application and Handout under the forms and handouts tab. 2 TREE CITY U.S.A.
