February 1, 2016 Mr. Robert Bonse 5574 O'Brien Ave. N. Oak Park Heights, MN 55082 Re: Water Line Break, Moisture & Residence Interior Conditions Dear Mr. Bonse: On January 21, 2016, the City received a call of water running from the interior of your residence to the outside. Oak Park Heights Public Works was dispatched to investigate the situation and did in fact find that water was coming from the home interior to its exterior. As your exterior water shut off valve could not be immediately located due to snow cover, and 1 after several efforts to locate you directly via telephone were unsuccessful, Public Works Director Andy Kegley and a Public Works Staff member entered the home with the assistance of the Oak Park Heights Police Department to turn the water off at an interior valve. While investigating and attending to the water line break, the interior condition of the home was noted as clearly showing existing evidence of previous water/moisture issues. Evidence of mildew/mold, various repair/construction efforts and areas of disrepair were observed (photos enclosed) and appear to have existed for some time. Naturally, the water line repair needs to be attended to. Likewise the mold growth needs to be removed. Mold growth is a potential health hazard and is also damaging to the building materials of your home. Repair to correct the source(s) of moisture to the home need to be undertaken, along with repair to current damage resulting from the moisture and mold growth. Please contact me at your very earliest to schedule an appointment with Public Works Director, Andy Kegley and myself to discuss the water situation at your home and possible remediation options to correct and abate the water moisture and structure condition.
