Mr. Stephen G. Muyskens
United States Postal Service

Overland Park KS 66202-4171
Dear Stephen:
Thank you for your letter notifying the City of Oak Park Heights that you have
g Y
selected a property in our Kern Center Business Park for the future location of
your carrier annex.
The City of Oak Park Heights wishes to offer our comments relative to the
location of a carrier facility at this location, and welcomes the opportunity pp ty to
continue our discussions with you and your representatives to resolve items as
they arise through the development of this project.
In our earlier meetings we provided you with a copy of the City's Design
n
g
Guidelines for new construction as well as copies of the B-3 Zoning Ordinance
9
and recommend that these guidelines and ordinances be adhered to in the
development of any facility located in the Kern Center.
We are in receipt of plans from the owners of this property that call for the
development of a Business Park and Office center, comprised of a total of 4
buildings. We strongly encourage you to work with the property owner and
developer to integrate your facility into these plans. The City is concerned that
we will lose the majority of this valuable office park from a tax base standpoint,
and is concerned that the construction of your facility would limit the future
development of the business park.
As the facility is located entirely in the City of Oak Park Heights and is proposed
. p p
to serve as a carrier facility, we request that the name of the facility be the "Oak
Park Heights Carrier Annex ". At the same time the City encourages the Postal
Service to offer retail Post Offices services at this location.
Tree City U.S.A.
Sincerely,
Kris Danielson
Community Development Director
