The speci es used for the site are generally acceptable; however, the sugar maples
will have a tough time growing on the heavy clay soils that. exis in muc o this area. Other
type of deciduous trees ('Summit' green a sh, R e dmond linden, bicolor oak, or
hackbe ) whi are better suited to the e xisting soils, shou be used. The pl ant schedul
lists the dwarf Korean lilac and the Welch juniper to be planted f d as to B&B stock. 'T'hese
p lants are shrubs an do not even attain a mature height of six feet. The descriptions in the
p lant schedule s be c to reflect the act size of the plant material going in.
Ponderosa pine is a non-native pine. Better long - term results would be obtained by
planting a native pine species such as red pine srnosa
In the front of the buf ldin g it is mostly j unipers and there i s not m uch co lor or
interest. I would recommend the addition of hardy, low maintenance perenriials such as
daylilies to improve the aesthetics.
Th landscape notes detail thr, c learing of brush an ins tallation of s . under
existing trees If this is in an area where they mould have lawn it is acceptable; however,
sod should not be p laced under existing trees along 55h Ste, unless it is done outside the
branch sp read. Clearing brushy undergrowth and ground layer vegetation from under
native trees and laying sod will harm the trees and cause theta to decline and die.

I would recommend additional tree planting on the west side of the propeAy to help
screen the facility from the adjoining residential properties.

.3. wrapping trees - there is no need to do this for trees after plantin since re cant research
has shown tree wrapping to be tneff eetive i preventing wi nter inj ury. Shading trunks is
more effective in preventing winter sunseald.
4. staking and g uying trees - this also should not be necessary. if it needs to be dome, i
