CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Mayor Beaudet. Present: Councilmembers
Abrahamson, Doerr, McComber and Swenson. Staff present: Administrator Johnson and Finance
Director Holst. Absent: None.
I. Budeet Adoption
Finance Director Holst reviewed the proposed budget of $3,007,772, noting that it
represents a 6.9% increase over the 2005 budget. Mayor Beaudet, seconded by
Councilmember Swenson, moved to adopt the proposed budget.
Councilmember Doerr, seconded by Councilmember McComber, moved to amend the
primary motion to change the utility admin fees to 7.5 %, remove $50,000 for a park
building, $10,000 for park trails and $20,000 for outdoor storage.
Discussion was held concerning the utility funds and capitalization of the funds. Park
dedication fees and funding for a park shelter were also discussed.
Vote taken on amendment; motion carried 3 — 2, Beaudet and Swenson opposed. Roll
• call vote taken on primary motion. Carried 4 — 1, Beaudet opposed.
II. Levy Adoption
Finance Director Holst reported that the proposed levy would be reduced by $144,465 as
a result of the action taken on the budget adoption. Holst noted that the levy increase is
mainly due to increases in salaries, insurance and fuel. Mayor Beaudet stated that under
the proposed levy the City is not saving enough and may be hurt in the future by levy
limits.
Councilmember Doerr, seconded by Councilmember McComber, moved to adopt the
levy of $2,474,455. Roll call vote taken. Carried 4 — 1, Beaudet opposed.
III. Adiournment.
Councilmember McComber, seconded by Councilmember Abrahamson, moved to
adjourn at 5:32 p. Carried 5 — 0.
