Approval is contingent upon meeting the requirement(s) listed below. A copy of the approved plans and this report must be retained at the project location. INSPECTIONS: All plumbing installations must be tested and inspected in accordance with the requirements of the Minnesota Plumbing Code. No plumbing work may be covered prior to inspection. The contractor/installer must obtain all required inspection permits from the City of Oak Park Heights Building Official. REQUIREMENT(S): 1. All plumbing shall be installed in accordance with Minnesota Rules,Chapter 4714. 2. A building's vent pipes must have total cross-sectional area not less than the area of the largest required building sewer(see Minnesota Rules,Chapter 4714, Section 904.1). 3. Unions shall be installed in water supply pipes not more than 12 inches from water heating or regulating equipment, water conditioning tanks,and similar equipment requiring service by removal or replacement(see Minnesota Rules, Chapter 4714, Section 609.5). 4. Equipment used for heating water or storing hot water shall be protected by approved safety devices in accordance with Minnesota Rules, Chapter 4714, Sections 504.4, 504.5, and 504.6. Water heaters at an elevation above the hot water fixture outlets must have a vacuum relief valve(see Minnesota Rules, Chapter 4714, Section 608.7). 5. Potable water pipes and fittings with lead content must not exceed 0.25 percent lead in the wetted surface material(see Minnesota Rules,Chapter 4714, Section 604.11). Solder and flux for potable water systems shall contain less than 0.2 percent lead. Joints must include non-corrosive non-toxic paste-type flux complying with ASTM B813 (see Minnesota Rules,Chapter 4714, Section 605.3.4). 6. Cross-link polyethylene(PEX)water service or water distribution systems must meet Minnesota Rules, Chapter 4714, Section 605.10 and Table 604.1: a. The tubing must comply with ASTM F876,ASTM F877, or CSA B137.5. AWWA C904 PEX may be used for cold water applications only. b. ASTM F876 tubing must be marked with the standard of the fittings to be utilized. c. The fittings must be marked with ASSE 1061,ASTM F877,ASTM F 1807,ASTM F 1960,ASTM F1961,ASTM F2080,ASTM F2159,ASTM F2735,or CSA B137.5. 7. CPVC water distribution systems must meet Minnesota Rules,Chapter 4714, Section 605.4 and Table 604.1: a. Pipes must meet ASTM Standards D2846, F441, or F442. Fittings must meet ASTM Standards D2846, F437, F438, F439, or F1970. c. Solvent cement must comply with ASTM F493. Solvent cement requiring the use of primer must be orange. Primer must meet ASTM F656 and be colored. One-step yellow or red solvent cement is permitted for'/2-inch through 2-inch ASTM D2846 pipes only. d. The installation must comply with IAPMO Installation Standard 20, including provisions for expansion and contraction. 8. Above-ground ABS or PVC drain,waste, and vent systems should utilize restraint fittings or a minimum 24- inch 45-degree offset every 30 feet(see Minnesota Rules,Chapter 4714, Installation Standards 5 and 9). PVC solvent weld joints must include ASTM F656 purple primer and ASTM D2564 solvent cement (see Minnesota Rules,Chapter 4714, Section 705.7.2). 9. The plumbing system shall be tested per Minnesota Rules, Chapter 4714, Sections 609.4 and 712.0. 10. The water distribution system shall be disinfected per Minnesota Rules, Chapter 4714, Section 609.9. NOTE(S): I. The scope of this project consists of the finishing of a new building. The plumbing installation includes two water closets,two lavatories,a mop sink, and two floor drains. 2. This facility will be served by existing municipal water and sewer services. 3. The Minnesota Plumbing Board is considering rule amendments to the Minnesota Plumbing Code, Minnesota Rules, Chapter 4714. A request for comments was published in the State Register on May 23, 2016.
