Yar
A site visit by the City Arborist was requested by the renter at 5665 Omaha Ave N. concerning the trees at this property, the
neighbor to the east had also expressed concern.Dr.Kathy Widin and I visited the site to inspect the trees.
The site visit included a visual inspection of the trees in concern.Included below is what was apparent during the site visit along with
recommendations for the issues found with the trees in concern:
• The ash (back northeast corner of property) has a broken hanging branch in the canopy over hanging the neighboring
property(14520 Upper 56th Street) and there other dead branches in the canopy. Recommendations include pruning of
dead wood and pruning of any broken branches.
• The large silver maple has part of the canopy over hanging into the neighboring property(14520 Upper 56th Street). The
tree has many co-dominant trunks with included bark, which, with its large size create a potential risk for failure especially
during storms or high wind events. It is recommended that any dead wood and broken branches are removed from this
tree and the canopy is thinned. Consult a professional tree service regarding the possibility of cabling the co-dominant
trunks of the silver maple and using flexible cabling rather than rigid steel cables.
• In the front yard,it is evident that the three black locusts have internal decay.Wildlife holes in the trees and sawdust at the
trunks are an indicator of carpenter ants which live in decayed wood. The trees also have co-dominant trunks with included
bark in the trunk unions making the unions less stable. These trees are a potential risk to the home, neighboring property
to the north, and to vehicles and persons using Omaha Ave.N.(black locust closest to Omaha Ave.N.)It is recommended
that the black locusts be removed.
• Other trees on the property have dead branches that should be pruned (NO pruning of oaks April 1$t— October 1st) to
prevent possible insect transmission of the oak wilt fungus to fresh wounds.
For tree pruning and removals tree services must be licensed in the City of Oak Park Heights (list is available at City Hall). They
should have climbing arborists using ropes NOT spikes.
If you have any questions regarding the trees, the site visit,or would like to meet for a site visit, please contact me at
(651)-439-4439.
Thank You,

RE:Trees on 5665 Omaha Ave N Property
To whom it may concern, 2C, It Et
A letter was sent to you on Friday July 10, 2015 a response has not been received and action has not been taken in
regards to the issue. A site visit by the City Arborist was requested by the renter at 5665 Omaha Ave N. concerning
the trees at this property, the neighbor to the east had also expressed concern. I visited the site to inspect the trees.
The previous site visit included a visual inspection of the trees in concern. Included below is what was apparent during
the site visit along with recommendations for the issues found with the trees in concern:
• The ash(back northeast corner of property)has a broken hanging branch in the canopy over hanging the neighboring properly(14520 Upper 56"
Street)and there other dead branches in the canopy.Recommendations include pruning of dead wood and pruning of any broken branches.
• The large silver maple has part of the canopy over hanging into the neighboring property(14520 Upper 56th Street). The tree has many co-dominant
trunks with included bark, which, with its large size create a potential risk for failure especially during storms or high wind events. It is recommended
that any dead wood and broken branches are removed from this tree and the canopy is thinned.Consult a professional tree service regarding the
possibility of cabling the co-dominant trunks of the silver maple and using flexible cabling rather than rigid steel cables.
• In the front yard,it is evident that the three black locusts have internal decayWildlife holes in the trees and sawdust at the trunks are an indicator of

• Other trees on the property have dead branches that should be pruned(NO pruning of oaks April 1st—October 11) to prevent possible insect
transmission of the oak wilt fungus to fresh wounds.
For tree pruning and removals tree services must be licensed in the City of Oak Park Heights (list is available at City
Hall). They should have climbing arborists using ropes NOT spikes. We would again ask that these be promptly
addressed by September 14th 2015 so as to avoid any future nuisance enforcement actions on the part of the
City.
If you have any questions regarding the trees, the site visit, or would like to meet for a site visit, please contact me at
(651)-439-4439.
Thank You,
Lisa Danielson.
