HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-05-14 Jeanne Anderson Email to OPHKris Danielson From: Sent: To: Sub Dear Ms. Danielson: Jeanne Anderson o ma@wrmed.com] Monda Ma 14, 2001 3:24 PM kdanielson@cit Proposed Wal on Os Ave. I am writin to object to the proposal to place a Wal on Os Ave. Thou I do not know the zonin re I will have to sa the nei is residential, with churches, schools and professionals. Yes, a funeral home is also a "business," but who g oes there if the don't have to? Compare the avera person's infre visits to the funeral home with the avera person's need for supplies at a place such as Wal I don't know if there is a le reason for distin between these 2 t of businesses, but I do know that I g o to Tar or Wal-Mart fre (probabl once a week or so) but I almost never g o to funeral homes (perhaps ever several y ears or so). So there is a factual difference between the two t makin a major impact on the traffic volume and flow. I am concerned about the safet of children walkin to the 4 schools in the area and I feel the addition of a Wal will draw more traffic up South Fourth Street and South Third Street, a detriment to the safet of our school children. It will also ne impact our q ualit y of livin with the increased traffic noise and the safet of all pedestrians just tr to have a peaceful walk around the nei or actuall tr to visit a nei across the street. I live on South Fourth Street and m nei is q uite lovel The elementar school is 2 blocks awa and the j unior hi is also 2 blocks awa How wonderful for m kids and the other children in m nei to be able to walk to and from school to home. This is an old-fashioned real nei the kind the new developers are tr so hard to recreate. I wish I could work full-time at writin letters and callin people and doin whatever I could to make it a better place b workin to eliminate and slow down the traffic. I would if I could, but I have to work full-time to support m and m famil instead. I don't understand wh we cannot make the safet of children walkin to school and the safet of pedestrians more important than rushin around in our cars. Especiall in a residential nei There is somethin wron with our priorities. But, we can rearran our priorities if we choose to. I doubt it it's common knowled in m nei that this pro is proposed. I am sure if more people were aware of this y ou would hear objections from most. Please print this letter out for y our plannin commission and call me to discuss the status of this project. Thank y ou. Jeanne M. Anderson 1109 South Fourth Street f IL E Copy Stillwater, MN 55082 (651) 430-8457 ( W ) (651) 439-8093 (H)
