Re: City Water Service Connection—5805 St Croix Trail N.
Dear Mr. Dahlke,
On April 20, 2017, Public Works Director Kegley and I met with you regarding the connection
you made to City water without a permit and to discuss plumbing permit and water meter
needs. The City did receive a permit application from Haussner Plumbing to install the meter on
April 25, 2017
Note that response was received back from the State Plumbing division on May 1, 2017 that plan
review of the connection was required by them. I notified you and Mr. Haussner of this
requirement May 1, 2017. I did speak with Mr. Haussner on 5/10 as to the status of the plan
being sent to the State. As of that date, he had not been able to find time to get it drawn and
stated that he would have it in this week. I have not yet heard from him as to it having been
submitted to Mr. Sawyer at the State for review.
That being said, Dahl-Tech has been tapped into City Water at least since early February, per the
well and boring sealing record I obtained from the MN Dept. of Health. The connection was
made without contacting any City Personal, without approval or inspection and is a violation of
City Ordinance 1001.
While the plan is in the works of preparation and review, the water meter will need to be
paid for and installed—no later than Friday May 19,2017.
Tree City U.S.A.
The water meter and initial installation permit fee due is $516.61. The permit and meter
shall be collected and installed by no later than Friday May 19,2017.
Public Works Director Kegley should be contacted to verify the meter installation (651)
775-5759. If the meter is not collected, installed and verified as noted above, water service
to Dahl Tech will be turned off at the City's main on Monday May 22,2017 until the water
meter is installed and recording water usage.
The installation of the water meter does not constitute a resolution to the service connection and
the plan review from the State and installation permit are still required. The plans shall be
remitted to the State for review, this week as indicted by Mr. Haussner and processed.
If the Plan review from the State comes back with requirements that differ from the installation
performed, the corrective action(s) shall be required.
Upon receipt of the State Review and any needed compliance work, a final inspection is to be
scheduled for final approval and closure of the matter.
Please contact me immediately with any questions.
Sincerely,
Ju Hultman
Building Official
