Call to Order: Chair Bye called the meeting to order. Present: Vice Chair Weyer, Commissioners Johnson, Norton, and Chirhart, City Administrator Johnson, Public Works Director Kegley, Arborist Danielson, and Commission-Liaison Liljegren. Absent: None. 11. Approval of Agenda: Commissioner Chirhart, seconded by Commissioner Norton, moved to approve the Agenda. Carried 5-0. III. Approve Parks Commission Minutes—April 17 2017: Vice Chair Weyer, seconded by Commissioner Chirhart, moved to approve the Minutes. Carried 5-0. IV, Department/Commission Liaison Reports: A. Arborist: Arborist Danielson reported that the City held the 2017 Arbor Month Ceremonial Tree Planting that evening prior to the Parks Commission meeting, and the City has been designated a Tree City IDSA for 35 years. She also reported that the prescribed burn at the Valley View prairie restoration area took place on May 3. B. Public Works Director: Public Works Director Kegley reported staff had been working on getting parks ready for the season, and they planned to have the shelters opened and staffed by May 20. C. Other/ Commission Liaison Reports: City Administrator Johnson reported that City staff had reached out to the City ol'Stillwater and the City of Bayport asking if they were looking into splash pads or into partnering with the City of Oak Park Heights on a possible project. He stated he did not receive a response from the City of Stillwater, but he did receive an email from the City of Bayport stating that it was not part of their City priorities. V. Visitors/Public Comment: None VI. Public Hearings: None VII. New Business: A. Ordinance 802 Amendment: City Administrator Johnson reported that the City Council was engaged in the conversation with other cities and community groups about the possibility of having a St. Croix River Crossing bridge opening celebration at Oak Park Crossing Park. He stated the City did not have anything in its Ordinances to allow for an event of that scale, so the City updated its Ordinance 802 to allow that event to occur. A copy of the updated Ordinance 802 was included in the Parks Commission Packet for that evening, and City Administrator Johnson outlined the amended section. Cover Park Update: City Administrator Johnson shared some pictures with the Parks Commissioners of the progress at Cover Park. IX. Informational: A. Next Meeting: Monday, June 19, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall B. Council Representative: Tuesday, May 23 —Commissioner Chirhart X. Adjournment: Vice Chair Weyer, seconded by Commissioner Johnson, moved to adjourn. Carried 5-0.
