Adjourn CITY OF OAK PARK HEIGHTS PARKS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES Monday,July 17, 2017 at City Hall I. Call to Order: Chair Bye called the meeting to order. Present: Vice Chair Weyer, Commissioners Johnson,Norton, and Chirhart, City Administrator Johnson, Public Works Director Kegley, and Arborist Danielson, Summer Park Program Coordinator Zeuli, and Commission-Liaison Liljegren. II. Approval of Agenda: Commissioner Norton, seconded by Commissioner Chirhart, moved to approve the Agenda. Carried 5-0. 111. Approve Parks Commission Minutes—June 19, 2017: Commissioner Norton, seconded by Vice Chair Weyer, moved to approve the Minutes. Carried 5-0. IV. Department/Commission Liaison Reports: A. Arborist: Arborist Danielson reported that the second of four weed control visits took place at the Swager and Valley View Park Prairie Restoration sites that day. She also reported that the DNR reduced the oak wilt risk status to low risk, and the next update on the risk status would take place on November 1. She said that meant that trees could still become infected with oak wilt, but the risk was low. B. Public Works Director: Public Works Director Kegley reported that staff was staying busy with standard maintenance duties. C. Other/ Commission Liaison Reports: Commission-Liaison Liljegren reported that the St. Croix River Crossing ribbon cutting event was set for August 2 at 10:00 a.m., and there were events planned throughout Stillwater and Oak Park Heights. City Administrator Johnson reported that there was an ice cream social event schedule at Oak Park Crossing Park following the ribbon cutting ceremony, and the public was invited. Summer Park Program Coordinator Zeuli provided an update of the summer park program schedule. City Administrator Johnson provided the Parks Commissioners with a trail map, and reported on trail connections and extensions that were planned for the near future. V. Update on Cover Park Shelter: City Administrator Johnson reported that the shelter was erected, the roof was up, the windows were installed, the curb and gutter was in, the base course of asphalt was in, and the trail was paved. He stated there was no deadline for completion yet, but they were obligated to reach substantial completion by early September. IX. Informational: A.
