Sub Wal-Mart Landscaping
Kris -
on Thursda 512102, Jim Butler, OPH Buildin Official, and I
met with the mana of the OPH Wal-Mart store. The issue under
discussion was a berm, landscaping, and fencin which were to have
been installed on the west side of the Wal-Mart propert to screen
the outdoor stora area from view. These elements were a
re of the Conditional Use Permit issued to Wal -Mart
Jan. 9, 2001 and have not y et been installed. After an inspection of
the propert and the screenin concerns I would make the followin
recommendations:
1. The landscaping on the west side of the propert was stipulated to
be a continuous band of ever on the berm, with deciduous trees
planted to the west of the berm instead of on it. This was in
response to m ori recommendations ( dated 12/7/00) but the
recommended chan are not shown on the landscape plan. The
ever should be planted in a sta row on the berm, not in a
strai row, so it looks more natural. The berm should be wide
enou to accommodate this sta plantin so that the ever
are planted on the flat part of the berm and not on the slope.
2. Fencin is stipulated to screen the NW corner of the outdoor
stora area. There are 3 spruce which are not doin well in that
area. These trees could be removed and the berm and ever
extended on that side to replace the fencin re
11 have included a cop of the plan on which I have re-drawn the
recommended chan and chan the number of re ever
Wal-Mart should have the plan professionally re-drawn so that the
contractor who installs the berm and landscaping will have the
correct information to work from.
