Call to Order: Vice Chair Weyer called the meeting to order. Present: Commissioners Johnson,Norton, and Chirhart, City Administrator ,lohnson, Public Works Director Kegley, Arborist Danielson, and Commission-Liaison Liljegren. Absent: Chair Bye. II. Approval of Agenda: Commissioner Norton, seconded by Commissioner Chirhart, moved to approve the Agenda. Carried 4-0. III. Approve Parks Commission Minutes—July 17. 2017: Commissioner Norton, seconded by Commissioner Chirhart, moved to approve the MMutes. Carried 4-0. IV. Department/Commission Liaison Reports: A. Arborist: Arborist Danielson reported that the third weed control visit for the prairie restoration took place on August 23, and the fourth one was set to take place sometime the following month. She also reported that the summer 2017 boulevard and park tree pruning and removal project was completed the previous month. B. Public Works Director: Public Works Director Kegley reported that as fall approached, the park shelters were scheduled to be winterized. He said parks could stili be used after winterizing, and that there would be portable toilets. Kegley also reported that Andersen Windows offered to do some volunteer work in one of the City parks. He said they were going to spread mulch in the playgrounds at Brekke Park on September 28. Kegley also stated that the city was accepting applications for rink attendants. C. Other / Commission Liaison Reports: Commission-Liaison Liljegren reported that the City Council talked about representation by commissioners at the City Council meetings. City Administrator Johnson reported that the City Council concluded that appointing a representative was not a requirement and felt it best to leave it to the discretion of the commission to send a member to the City Council meetings since there was already a member of staff and a Commission-Liaison present at each comrnission meeting. V. Visitors/Public Comment: None VI. Public Hearings: None VII. New Business: A. Set Cover Park Shelter Ribbon Cutting: Vice Chair Weyer, seconded by Commissioner Chirhart, moved to set a ribbon cutting at Cover Park on October 16 at 6:30 p.m. Carried 4-0.
