Re: New Lighting Fixtures
Dear Mr. Chapman,
The directional exterior lighting fixtures installed on the existing telephone poles do not comply with
City Ordinance requirements. All of these fixtures require correction so that they comply with the
requirements of City Ordinances 401.15.6.7.
All outdoor luminaire are to have no less than a 90 degree angle for total cut off of the light emitted
from the fixture.Simply put, this means that the lens through which light is emitted shall not extend
beyond a solid material, which restricts light emission, above and to each side of the fixture. This is also
known as a full or total cut off.
With this letter, you are requested to take the steps necessary to bring these fixtures into compliance as
well as any other fixtures that are not currently full cut off shielded. In addition, please submit the
specifications for the fixtures and a photometric plan showing the illumination field readings.
The corrections shall be made no later than June 19, 2009. A compliance inspection will be made to
verify compliance by this date.
For your convenience, I have enclosed a copy of the City's Zoning Ordinance addressing outdoor lighting
for your review. I appreciate your prompt attention to this request and ask that you contact me
immediately with any questions you may have.
Sincerely,
r7
