Water Service Conversion, 15805 St. Croix Trail N, Oak Park Heights, Washington County, Minnesota, Plan No. PLB 1705-00252 It has come to my attention that some of the plumbing has been installed prior to the completion of the plan review. Accordingly, a report on plans will not be issued. The scope of this project consists of the removal of the well water service connection and the modifications to an existing ductile iron pipe fire protection water service (with a municipal water service connection) to serve as a combination fire protection/domestic water service. Please note the following comments regarding compliance with the Minnesota Plumbing Code: 1 . All plumbing must be installed in accordance with the 2015 Minnesota Plumbing Code (see Minnesota Rules, Chapter 4714). 2. The submitted plan and letter reference an ASSE 1047 and an ASSE 1048 backflow preventer on the existing 6-inch fire protection service. A combination fire protection/domestic water service must comply with the backflow protection requirements of Minnesota Rules, Chapter 4714, Section 603.5. 15. a. A listed double check valve assembly is required for systems without the introduction of chemicals. b. An RPZ or RP backflow device is required to protect the potable water supply for: i. fire sprinkler systems in which anti-freeze or other chemicals may be introduced directly; ii. pumper connections located less than 1 ,700 feet from a nonpotable secondary water source (lakes, river, or other surface water source) that is capable of being used by the fire department; or iii. pumper connections served by nonpotable sources including fire department vehicles carrying water of questionable quality, or water that is treated with chemical agents. The local administrative authority and fire department should be consulted concerning backflow prevention and sprinkler system hydraulic design requirements. 3 . Verify that the pressure reducing valve installation complies with the requirements of Minnesota Rules, Chapter 4714, Section 608.2. This includes the strainer and expansion tank. 4. The pipe materials used for the new and existing 1 -inch water supply piping must comply with Minnesota Rules, Chapter 4714, Table 604. 1 . 5 . The plumbing system must be tested in accordance with Minnesota Rules, Chapter 4714, Sections 609.4 and 712.0.
