E. Ent 5610 Memorial Ave. - Landscape Plan OPH Staff - I have reviewed the revised plans for the W.A.T.E. Enterprises project at 5610 Memorial Ave. and have the followin comments: 1. It looks as if the plan chan could result in savin two lar oaks, 24 in. and 25 in. in diameter. These trees, and the other trees to be saved, will need to be protected with tree protection fencin before g radin g be Fencin should be put at the dripline if possible, or at least no closer than 15 feet to the trunk. If construction results in cuttin roots of oaks, the roots should be cut cleanl and recovered with soil. If vehicles will drive on an portion of the root s under the branch spread of the trees to be saved, 8 inches of wood chip mulch should be spread before vehicle traffic occurs. 2. The landscape plan has been chan and will result in more trees bein planted. The plan currentl lists 11 Patmore ash. I would su that the species should be varied to provide interest and to g uard a insect and disease spread. I su plantin Patmore ash ( 3 ) , bicolor oak ( 3 ) , Redmond linden ( 2), red maple (2) on the west and south and a flowerin crab in the median off the NW corner of the buildin Thirt inches of trees will be planted and this credit will be used to offset the tree replacement re 3. With the potential savin of two oaks and the addition to the landscape plan, the tree replacement re is now 223 inches. This can be satisfied b plantin 89 2.5 in. diameter trees or pa cash in lieu of plantin ( $50.1 s in. = $11,150. 4. The cost of the landscapin ( for the Development A has chan to $6,214. based on the current landscape plan. If the choose to var the tree species as recommended, the cost will be $6,328., which reflects the difference in cost of those trees. Kath Widin OPH Arborist
