Many of the trees lack adequate wood chip mulch. Mulch levels should be 3-4 inches and completely cover the soil over the root balls. Additional mulch should be applied where needed. 2. Many of the trees are very stressed and some have dropped their leaves already. The trees should be watered individually for 30 minutes with a hose at the ground line once or twice a week until mid-October. Shrubs should be watered for 5 minutes each two times a week until mid-October. 3. The spruce which were designated for planting in the lot corner facing highway 5 were replaced with arborvitae at the request of Xcel Energy, due to the overhead power lines in that location. The arborvitae will need to be protected from winter winds with a burlap screen from Nov.- Mar. or they will suffer winter burn in that NW exposure. 4. A barberry planted at the NW end of the bed facing Hwy. 36 is mostly dead and should be replaced. 5. The sod that was recently laid is starting to dry out. All sod should be watered well at least twice a week until mid-October. Mr. Costa said that an irrigation system was planned but had not been installed yet. 6. The plant material appears to have been planted correctly. Watering is the main issue right now. 7. Mr. Costa informed me 9/12 that the hydroseeding around the stormwater pond should be done within the next week. Kathy Widin Arborist City of Oak Park Heights
