Call to Order: Vice Chair Chirhart called the meeting to order. Present: Commissioners Bye and Peterson, Arborist Danielson, City Administrator Johnson, Summer Park Program Coordinator Zeuli, and Public Works Director Kegley. Absent: Chair Weyer, Commissioner Thoreson, and Commission-Liaison Liljegren. II. Approval of Agenda: Commissioner Bye, seconded by Commissioner Peterson, moved to approve the Agenda. Carried 3-0. III. Approve Parks Commission Minutes—July 16, 2018: Commissioner Peterson, seconded by Commissioner Bye, moved to approve the Minutes. Carried 3-0. IV. Department/Commission Liaison Reports: A. Arborist: Arborist Danielson reported that the Minnesota DNR changed the oak wilt status to low risk on July 17, 2018. She said oak trees could still become infected with oak wilt, but the risk was very low. She said if you damage an oak, use a sealant on the tree within 15 minutes. B. Public Works Director: Public Works Director Kegley reported that about 90,000 square feet of trail surface was sealed. He said staff was working on clearing buckthorn from the Valley View Park goat area and should be finished by the end of that week. C. Other/ Commission Liaison Reports: Summer Park Program Coordinator Zeuli provided an update on the summer park program. City Administrator Johnson reported that Zeuli would be hosting a winter event late December similar to the summer park program events. Zeuli said they were hoping to host the event at the new Cover Park shelter. V. Visitor/Public Comment: None VI. Public Hearings: None VII. New Business: A. Park Walkthrough Discussion: Vice Chair Chirhart reported that the Parks Commissioners, the City Administrator, the Arborist, and the Public Works Director walked through all the parks within the City to come up with a list of needs and wants for future planning. Public Works Director Kegley provided a list of notes from the walkthrough to the Parks Commissioners. He said many items had already been completed, staff would obtain quotes for some of the Page 3 of 4 items, and the rest were attainable within the year. VIII. Old Business: None IX.
