PARKS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES
Monday, November 19, 2018 at City Hall
I. Call to Order: Chair Weyer called the meeting to order. Present: Vice Chair Chirhart,
Commissioners Bye and Peterson, Arborist Danielson, City Administrator Johnson, Summer
Park Program Coordinator Zeuli, Public Works Director Kegley. and Commission-Liaison
Liljegren. Absent: Commissioner Thoreson.
11. Approval of Agenda: Commissioner Bye, seconded by Vice Chair Chirhart, moved to
approve the Agenda. Carried 4-0.
III. Approve Parks Commission Minutes—August 20 2018: Commissioner Peterson, seconded
by Commissioner Bye, moved to approve the Minutes. Carried 4-0.
IV. Department/commission Liaison Reports:
A. Arborist: Arborist Danielson reported the 2018 fall boulevard and park tree trimming
was started the previous Monday by St. Croix SavATree.
B. Public Works Director: Public Works Director Kegley reported that staff cleared
buckthorn from Valley View Park after the goats left, which was a significant time
commitment. He also reported that they have hired the rink attendants for the winter
season. Kegley reported that Pam Patrick removed a lot of brush from the Cover
Park garden, and the City wished to thank her for that. He also reported that the City
put addresses at the City parks as requested by the Parks Commission.
C. Other/ Commission Liaison Reports: City Administrator Johnson reported that the
security cameras were installed and operational at Valley View Park and Cover Park.
He said data was saved for approximately 30 days, so the City could look back at
footage if needed. He also thanked the Eagle Scouts Troop 9132 for the benches
they built and donated to the City.
V. Visitor/Public Comment: None
VI. Public Hearings: None
Vll. Ncxv Business:
A. Park Programming=Holiday Event: Summer Park Program Coordinator Zeuli
reported that there would be a craft event during the winter school break, most likely
on Friday, December 28. She said she was looking into Cover Park as the location,
and they would be doing sand art snowman and sun-catcher snowflakes.
B. Approve 2019 Parks Commission Meeting Dates: Commissioner Peterson, seconded
by Commissioner Bye, moved to approve the meeting dates. Carried 4-0.
