Attached is the quote I wrote for the owner of the 5627 Perkins Ave N. home. Each section has an explanation of the hazardous condition written in red. I'll let know what his response is to the proposal. He should probably be reminded that a property owner cannot do electrical work in a home that he owns if he is not the primary occupant of the property. There was a lot of really bad electrical work done there. Like I explained on the phone the condition that caused the smoke was the refrigerator it self and not the integrity of the wiring or wiring devices in the home. However of course everything listed in my quote will need to be fixed in order to make the property safe the residents(in my opinion). Daniel R. The existing condition of the main service is unacceptable for a few reasons. It had double tapped circuit breakers, it was missing the cover, it had several un sealed openings, it had several circuit breakers that were not sized correctly and it had wiring that landed on circuit breakers that came in the front of the panel board rather than threw a knockout. Electric Range $675.00 • Run 1- new 50 amp 240 volt circuit for the electric range. • install new 50 amp circuit breaker. • Install 1 4 wire cord on the the new range. • Bond the new 4 wire range receptacle in the outlet box to make it a code compliant installation. *The Electric range circuit was not strapped, had open splices and was landed on a 20 amp 2 pull circuit breaker. The over current protection device required for that appliance is a 50 amp fuse or circuit breaker. * The Electric range had a 3 wire cord coming out of it,then had a 4 wire cord spliced on to it so it could be plugged in to the receptacle. The appliance is not grounded correctly because of the this. Also this illegal slice is un safe. Basement wiring $920.00 • Secure and protect all basement wiring as required by national electrical code. • Install covers on all open junction boxes. • remove any un used branch circuit wiring. • Install junction boxes on all of the open splices, re wire as necessary. *None of the existing wiring was supported or protected correctly. * Upon a brief visual inspection I found around 10 open junction boxes and slices in the wiring without junction boxes, and boxes that were not supported at all. powered by* (f)tIExI_L S1 vi _ ELECTRIC INC 12/07/2018 SID#: 1812017 Dryer circuit $510.00 3 ! • Install 1 240 volt 30 amp circuit for the dryer. • Install 1 new dryer receptacle. • Add 1 new 30 amp circuit breaker for the dryer. * The dryer circuit appears to be under sized, it was not supported correctly and the junction box was hanging out of the ceiling with a cord plugged in to it. GFI protection { $810.00 • Install GFI circuit protection in all unfinished areas, kitchens, bathrooms, and exterior { outlets. *I did not see GFI's in the basement or in the kitchen. I I smoke detectors $940.00 • Install 1-Carbon monoxide/smoke detector on each floor, install AFCI circuit protection. *I forgot to look for c/o and smoke detectors, but if they are needed ( I'm assuming they are) here is the price.
