CITY OF OAK PARK HEIGHTS
WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF OAK PARK HEIGHTS
THANKING MARK SWENSON FOR HIS YEARS OF SERVICE ON
THE OAK PARK HEIGHTS CITY COUNCIL
WHEREAS, Mark Swenson was elected to the City Council in 1994 and has served
consecutively through 2018; and,
WHEREAS,during his tenure on the City Council,Mark Swenson has served on numerous
City committees and liaison to several advisory commissions; and,
WHEREAS, Mark Swenson has made significant contributions to the City Council's
deliberations of broad policy matters, offering his remarks in a thoughtful and constructive
manner; and,
WHEREAS, Mark Swenson was a model of civility on the City Council, always respectful
of the opinions of others and able to express differences of opinion while maintaining a spirit of
collegiality; and,
WHEREAS, Mark Swenson has actively sought to improve the quality of life for residents
and property owners in Oak Park Heights since his first election; and,
WHEREAS, Mark Swenson was committed to strengthening the communication between
the City and its citizens; was especially known for his efforts to preserve and protect the
neighborhoods that make up the City of Oak Park Heights; was respected for carefully and
thoroughly reviewing all legislation that came before Council; was acknowledged for his special
interest in the public safety of the City of Oak Park Heights and the rights of all of its citizens; will
be remembered for his continuing efforts at outreach to his constituents, his efforts to improve
traffic in his community and his interest in helping the veterans and senior citizens of the City; and
last but not least his strong support for and personal connection with the employees of the City of
Oak Park Heights; and,
WHEREAS, Mark Swenson has chosen to not seek re-election for his position as Council
Member.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Oak Park
Heights,Minnesota, on behalf of its citizens, expresses its profound appreciation to Mark Swenson
for 24 years of diligent public service to the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the City Council wishes Mark
Swenson many happy years, as he retires from public office.
