Johnson Cc: Julie Hultman Subject: Xcel Substation Eric: Julie shared the plans for the Xcel substation with staff this morning. Dennis will comment on the grading and drainage issues under a separate memo. As to the fence, the Zoning Ordinance allows fencing to be used for screening as long as it's eight feet in height and approved by the City Council. It can be constructed of metal and wood and shall provide a solid screening effect. It appears as though the fence proposed will meet the design criteria. It was not clear to me if the fence was on the property line or if there is area owned by Xcel around the fence. If so, we should also ask for landscaping. If you have any questions, let me know.
