Verify that the existing water supply and waste systems are sized for the added fixtures (see Sections 610.7 through 610. 12 and 703.0). 3 . Handheld showers must have integral backflow protection meeting ASME A 112. 18. 1/CSA B125. 1 or a backflow preventer meeting ASME A112. 18.3 (see Section 417.3). 4. Showers and combination showers-baths shall be equipped with individual thermostatic, pressure balancing, or combination thermostatic and pressure-balancing control valves in accordance with ASSE 1016 or ASME Al 12. 18. 1/CSA B125. 1 (see Section 408.3). The temperature setting may not exceed 120 degrees F. 5. A cleanout should be provided where new waste and vent piping connects with existing for testing. 6. All materials used in potable water systems must meet the requirements of NSF 61 (see Section 604. 1). Pipe and fittings with lead content must not exceed 0.25 percent lead in the wetted surface material (see Section 604. 11). Solder and flux shall contain less than 0.2 percent lead. Joints must use ASTM B813 non- corrosive non-toxic paste-type flux (see Section 605.3.4). 7. Pipe hangers and supports shall comply with Section 313.0, Table 313. 1 , and the installation standard. 8. Valves should be installed permitting the water supply to each individual fixture to be shut off without disrupting any other portion of the building. Item 1: Acknowledged. Item 2: The project consists of replacing existing shower valves and trim,and floor drains one for one. There are no added plumbing fixtures. Item 3: The hand held shower specified in specification section 22 4600, paragraph 2.1 B.2. b. is to comply with ASME A112.18.3. Item 4: Does not apply as the project scope only includes the replacement of the shower faucet which connects to the existing tempered water supply. Item 5: A cleanout may be provided where new waste and vent piping connects with existing as part of contractor's means and methods. Item 6: a. Per specification section 22 1119, paragraph 1.3 B. indicates potable domestic water piping and components comply with NSF 61. Also, per specification section 22 4600, paragraph 1.5 C. fixture materials that will be in contact with potable water to comply with NSF 61. b. Refer to Addendum 6 for clarification of Pipe and fittings with lead content must not exceed 0.25 percent lead in the wetted surface material. c. Refer to Addendum 6 for clarification of Solder and Flux shall contain less than 0.2 percent lead. d.
