Re: Water Heater Replacement
Dear Mr.Jackson,
I was advised that collection of a water heater was made to the City Offices this week. If you
have had your water heater replaced,please be advised that I have not received a work
permit from anyone for such replacement.
Minnesota Code requires inspection of water heaters upon their initial installation and
subsequent replacements.Accordingly,the City does require a permit for the installation(s).
If a contractor installed the water heater,they are required to be licensed either by the State
of Minnesota or by the City of Oak Park Heights depending upon their trade classification.
If you installed the unit yourself and own and occupy the home,you may pull the permit for
this work. Water heaters are charged a flat rate permit fee of$51. A permit application is
also enclosed.
As the homeowner,you are responsible to ensure that a contractor performing work has
pulled their work permit and schedule the necessary inspections for this work. If you had a
contractor perform this service,please reach out to them to request that they obtain their
work permit.
If you did have a contractor perform the work,please also notify me of who provided this
service so that I can reach out to them as well.
