April 5, 2006
A specific objective during the construction event at Moelter, that will occur in the
early summer months of 2006, is to minimize disruption of the existing landscape
by moving further from the existing residence located east of the facility. The
design modification Xcel Energy is proposing has been developed to reduce the
area of construction and physically push it further into the existing landfill
framework. Trees within the construction footprint that will be impacted,
nonetheless, were identified and evaluated on April 4, 2006, by Sharon Sarappo,
an Xcel Energy environmental analyst. Sharon will report her findings to Oak
Park Heights Arborist, Kathy Widen. Xcel Energy will tender the applicable fee to
allow the city to replace these trees in accordance with the existing tree
ordinance.
Any grassed areas on Xcel Energy's property that are inadvertently damaged
during this construction event will be reseeded to establish new growth.
Again, the purpose of this permit modification is to reduce King plant's impact on
the existing landscape and improve the long -term usefulness of the site for its
neighbors and city residents.
