alternatives that would be less expensive, and they expressed the same concerns
about the Lookout Tower concept as the Parks Commissioners did. She also reported
the City did not receive the AARP grant that was applied for.
City Administrator Johnson provided the Parks Commission with a copy of a flyer he

the Parks Commissioners to think about as they discussed fitness equipment in the
future..

A. Summer 2019 Monarch Butterfly Conservation Pro'ect—Presentation by Kimberly
Faurot: Ms. Faurot provided an update on her project that she started in the City in
2010 where she collects eggs, raises caterpillars, and releases monarch butterflies.
She said her project has shifted recently from raising to providing habitat.
Commissioner Thoreson requested she write an article for the City newsletter.
Commissioner Peterson asked if there was something the City could do to make the

VII. Old Business:
A. Drinking Fountains: Public Works Director reported that the City Council asked staff
to come up with cost-saving measures. He reviewed his memo that was included in
the Parks Commission packet providing alternatives to the original request. The
Commissioners discussed options and suggested just doing one fountain at the
current time with the nicer looking fountain. The consensus was that Oak Park
Crossing Park was a priority.
Commissioner Thoreson, seconded by Commissioner Bye, moved that the Parks
Commission recommend to the City Council a water fountain install at Oak Park
Crossing Park with the fountain that included a dog bowl, and at a later time reassess
another fountain at Swager Park. Carried 5-0.
