ear Commissioner Moore,
We grant to thank you for both meeting wi us to discuss the work b ein g done by the
coil stl•uctton, Demolition, and Industrial Landfill (CDI L) 'dark Group and tho follow up
inforrnation you provided regarding critical issues for the group to consider, We very
much appreciate you listening to our concerns and working to answer and resolve some
o f issues that Nvere raised at out meeting,
Whi our meeting with you focused on the work of the MIL, we felt it was also
important to update you on the questions being raised in tho Oak .park Heights
community regarding the Xcel Energy application to expand the current fly ash disposal
site. Prior to our meeting, we had alerted your staff to sorne of the questions we had
about the application and the process that the Minnesota Pollution Control A would
use; in reviewing the application, It was not our intent to surprise you with this
infoniiation, but rather alert you to some of the concerns that we have been hearing from
community mernbers.
W e offerod to follow up with you regarding how you might direot M1 staff` to proceed
in working with and responding to the comillunity and the concerns that they have
brought to our attention regarding management of the cun•e11t site. Regardless of whether
the expansion application is approved by the M1 CA and City of Oak Park Heights, we
believe the following allegations raised by our constituents are worthy of investigation by
the MITA.. We would further suggest that the MPCA investigate theso issues in more
depth before holding a community meeting so that MPCA staffs are better able to
respond to the allegations or at least comment on how /if the MICA, plans to proceed in
investigating then.
