PARKS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES
Monday,July 15, 2019 at City Hall
I. Call to Order: Chair Weyer called the meeting to order. Present: Vice Chair Chirhart,
Commissioner Bye, Commissioner Peterson, and Commissioner Thoreson; City
Administrator Johnson, Public Works Director Kegley, Arborist Danielson, and
Commission Liaison Johnson. Absent: None.
II. Approval of Agenda: Commissioner Bye, seconded by Commissioner Peterson, moved to
approve the Agenda. Carried 5-0.
111. Approve Parks Commission Minutes—June 17, 2019: Commissioner Peterson, seconded by
Vice Chair Chirhart, moved to approve the Minutes. Carried 5-0.
IV. Department/Commission Liaison Reports:
A. Arborist: Arborist Danielson reported that Minnesota Native Landscapes conducted
the first of four weed control visits for the prairie restoration areas.
B. Public Works Director: He reported that the City Council approved the drinking
fountain project, and the fountain had been ordered.
C. Other/ Commission Liaison Reports: Commission Liaison Johnson reported that the
Oak Park Heights 60`}' anniversary celebration was coming out, and she invited the
Parks Commissioners.
V. Visitor/Public Comment: None
VI. Public Hearings: None
VII. Old Business:
A. 2019 Park Walkthrough Notes: Public Works Director Kegley explained the park
walkthrough list and asked if the commissioners wanted to discuss and create a
priority ranking. Chair Weyer suggested a worksession to discuss prior to the next
meeting. City Administrator Johnson suggested the Parks Commissioners provide
him with their own personal ranking via email before the worksession.
Vice Chair Chirhart, seconded by Commissioner Thoreson, moved to have a
worksession during the next Parks Commission meeting. Carried 5-0.
VIII. New Business:
A. Swing Set at Cover Park: City Administrator Johnson reported that the City received
a phone call from a resident asking if a swing set could be installed at Cover Park.

He reviewed a quote that was received for a two-swing set for $I,869.33 which did
not include installation.
Commissioner Peterson, seconded by Commissioner Bye, moved to make a
recommendation to the City Council to move forward with the swing set at Cover
Park. Carried 5-0.
IX. Informational:
A. Oak Park Heights 60`x' Anniversary Celebration: Thursday, August 15, 6— 8 p.m. at
Autumn Hills Park
B. Next Meeting: Monday, August 19 at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall
C. Upcoming Council Meeting: Tuesday, July 23 at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall
X. Adjourn: Commissioner Bye, seconded by Chair Weyer, moved to adjourn the meeting.
Carried 5-0.
