PARKS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES
Monday, August 19, 2019 at City Hall
1. Call to Order: Chair Weyer called the meeting to order. Present: Vice Chair Chirhart,
Commissioner Bye, Commissioner Peterson, and Commissioner Thoreson; City
Administrator Johnson, Public Works Director Kegley, Arborist Danielson, and
Commission Liaison Johnson. Absent: None.
If. Approval of Agenda: Vice Chair Chirhart; seconded by Commission Thoreson, moved to
approve the Agenda amending it to move the Worksession to the end of the meeting.
Carried 5-0.
III. Approve Parks Commission Minutes—,July 25 2019: Commissioner Peterson, seconded by
Vice Chair Chirhart, moved to approve the Minutes. Carried 5-0.
IV. Department/Commission Liaison Reports:
A. Arborist: Arborist Danielson reported that the second of four weed control visits took
place at Swager Park and Valley View Park, Vice Chair Chirhart asked if the prairie
near Oak Park Crossing Park could be mowed earlier in the year and then later,
possibly October, while the birds were migrating. City Administrator Johnson said
he could ask Xcel Energy.
B3 Public Works Director: Public Works Director Kegley reported that City
Administrator Johnson secured an agreement with the owner of'Club Tara to run a
\i iter line through their property for a drinking fountain at Oak Park Crossing Park.
He said the lines would likely be installed in the coming week and the tap would be
installed Iater in the fall.
C. Other/ Commission Liaison Reports: Commission Liaison Johnson reported that the
City held its 60'h anniversary party, and there was a banner for residents to write why
they loved the City, and parks and trails was the most common comment.

meetings have been changed to the week following the regularly
scheduled meeting date, due to legal holidays occurring on the regular
