Re: Window Replacement/Installation — Work Permits Required
Dear Mr. Burhans:
Window are being replaced/installed at your home.
Please be advised that the City of Oak Park Heights Ordinance has adopted the Minnesota State
Building Code (including plumbing and electrical) and by its reference the International Residential,
Mechanical, Fuel Gas and Fire Code.
The adoption of these Codes requires inspections to new construction and remodeling/repair projects
(ie: siding, windows, additions, etc.). To facilitate the inspection requirements permits for
construction, plumbing, mechanical, fire protection, and electrical work are required. All permits,
except electrical, are issued by the City of Oak Park Heights. Electrical work permits are obtained from
the MN Dept of Labor and Industry— Electrical Division.
City Ordinance requires that all contractors, who are not required to be licensed by the State of
Minnesota, to obtain a local contractor licensed for their trade. Minnesota Mechanical Contractors
are required to have a MN Mechanical Bond. Homeowners, who reside within the property, may pull
permits for work they are performing on their own.
I have not been contacted for a work permit for window installation to your home. Kindly contact me
or have your contractor contact me to obtain the required work permit for the window installation and
to discuss any other work and permit needs, if any is planned or underway. Email is fine.
I appreciate your prompt response and look forward to talking with you.
Sincerely,
PLANING & CODE ENFORCEMENT
