The City received no permit application for the construction of the structure. I advised you that the ramp structure does not meet ADA requirements for handicap access and was unable to see how it was to serve as an access ramp of any kind. Please be advised that the structure as placed is not compliant with construction code or local ordinances for handicap access and must be removed within 30 days of the date of this letter. Prior to erection of any structure a permit application and plan must be submitted to the City for review and approval. Once approved, a permit shall be issued. Unless you are performing the work yourself, a Minnesota State licensed residential contractor or City licensed masonry contractor is required. I have provided you with information as to the ADA requirements and am happy to discuss with you any plan you may have for your daughter's access route. Additionally, you may also contact Curt Wiehle at the Minnesota State Building Codes and Standards Division at 651-296-4633 with questions as to handicap accessibility.
