Melena, City Administrator City of Oak Park Heights 14168 Oak Park Blvd. North, P.O. Box 2007 Oak Park Heights, Minnesota 55082 RE: 2000 Local Trail Connections Grants Dear Mr. Melena: Thank you for submitting your project for funding through the Local Trail Connections Grant Program. For your information, we received 32 trail grant applications for projects that requested an estimated$1.3 million. Unfortunately, only about $550,000 was available statewide this year for this program. This money was split evenly between the metropolitan area and the rest of greater Minnesota. As I understand it, your project is to construct a trail to connect Swager Park and Valley View Park. The selection process for this grant program has recently come to an end. I regret to inform you that your project has not been selected for funding this year. Even though your project is a good one, there was too much competition for the funds that were available this year. We appreciate your interest in our grant program. Moreover, we appreciate the interest in building, enhancing and maintaining new trails. Trails have a great impact on the community and on the residents themselves. For your information, the solicitation cycle for new funds will begin in late November, 2000. You will automatically receive a packet from the Department. If you have any further questions, please call Tim Mitchell, Grants Specialist (651) 297-1718.. Once again, thank you for your continuing interest in trails. Sincerely, at..,‘„, co).1A...
