HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008-05-06 OPH Ltr to Kristi Sullivan Re Pool Room Doors CITY 0 _ OAK PARK HEIGHTS ,, 14168 Oak Park Boulevard No. • P.O.Box 2007 • Oak Park Heights,MN 55082-2007 • Phone:651/4394439 • Fax:651/439-0574 May 6, 2008 Kristi Sullivan 6351 St. Croix Trail Oak Park Heights, MN. 55082 Dear Kristi After my site visit to your building to investigate the pool area to determine the required rating of the doors I found that the following is needed. 1) The door at the bottom on the stairs is the only door required to be rated and must have a 90 minute fire rating and if glass is installed in the door, it too must comply with the code requirements. 2) All exit doors must have panic hardware, exit lights, and illumination for exiting per the building code. 3) The other 4 doors are not required to be rated, but the sauna and bathroom doors are required to have lever handles. Regarding the main entry a ramp would be required and there are many code requirements to be met in the design of such a structure. I recommend you contact an architect to design this entry. Regarding the maximum number of occupants in a residential structure it is limited to 1 occupant per 200 square feet. I have enclosed the code section addressing this requirement.
