Re : Cover Park Manor
Dear Chuck & Judy:
The City Council has asked that I contact you requesting your
presence at the next council meeting Tuesday, October 11th at 7 : 00
p.m.
At the last meeting there were concerns about parking, additional
signage, cars turning around near the four plexes, childrens
safety, a bus leaving people off for the open house, etc . I
believe the council will question as to whether you plan to be on
next years historic home tour, among other things .
You may want to check the Courier today for further information on
the meeting.
Should you have questions, please do not hesitate to give me a
call .
Sincerely,
CITY OF OAK PARK HEIGHTS

Oak Park Heights officials
II be aiming to make 58th Street
>rth safer after hearing traffic
mplaints from residents near
>ver Park. Monday, council
ambers voted to add two or three
o parking" signs on the north
le of the street, and to direct po-
e to contact nearby apartment
finers about erecting signs Edi-
ting that the parking lot is prf-
te property.
The council addressed the is -
e after Ken Noyes, a neighbor to
Cover Inn bed and breakfast (B
B) questioned the operation's
mpliance with city ordinances
rlier this month when the inn
is on the well attended historic
ime tour. Another neighbor,
anita McGinnis, said she too had
oblems with traffic overflow that
iy, and witnessed many drivers
rning around in the private
apartment lot, making it unsafe for
children living there.
Brian Jones, who also lives in
the vicinity, suggested lowering
the speed limit along 58th to 10 or
15 miles per hour, but was told by
City Attorney Mark Vierling that
the state's rules do not allow cities
to arbitrarily set speed limits below
30 mph unless extensive state
studi are done.
City officials agreed to ask for
ore communication from B & B
owner Chuck Dougherty if the site
is on next year's tour. The topic of
'traffic control on 58th may be on a
!future agenda for discussion, as
well.
—" eeanwfiile, the future 58th
Street in the city's newly annexed
area will remain on the table at
least until Oct. 24. The council has
been regularly tabling the im-
provement hearing since May in
,hopes of reaching consensus with
School board --
adjacent land owners and devel-
opers about whether the street
should be a two-lane or four -lane
roadway, among other issues.
Council Member Dick Seggelke
pointed out Monday that the pro-
ject may only be tabled until
November -- six months from the
original hearing date -- without re -
notifying all adjoining property
owners and setting a new hearing
date.
"The land owner has several
signed agreements with developers
and he is looking for completion of
58th Street sometime this next
spring," commented Mayor Barb
O'Neal. She suggested holding a
workshop "to bring all the key
players in this area together."
The council agreed to table
the project until its Oct. 24 meet-
ing, and to notify potential devel-
opers of the timelines involved.
Also on Monday, {he council:
o (,
