HomeMy WebLinkAboutBudget Change Memo 12-7-00 City of Oak Park I leights Memo December 7, 2000 To: Mayor and Council From: Judy Holst, Deputy Clerk/Finance Director Re: Budget and Tax Levy At the December 4 Truth in Taxation hearing staff recommended several budget changes. The snow removal budget requires line item changes as a result of the City performing part of it's own plowing operations. Line item changes in the snow removal budget are: Salaries of regular employees $2,500 Other contractual services $42,480 Other material & supplies $3,500 Rent of equipment $18,000 PERA contribution $130 FICA contribution $190 Machinery & auto equipment $4,000 Total $70,800 After reviewing the sanitation budget, I have determined the subsidy received from the General Fund will not be sufficient to cover the City's portion of costs for sanitation. I recommend increasing the Sanitation transfer to Utility Fund by $8,000 and reducing the Council Contingency by $8,000. The proposed tax rate for the City increased slightly over the year 2000. Year 2000 was 23.620, year 2001 proposed rate is 23.658. If Council wishes to have the same tax rate as the year 2000, the tax levy will have to be reduced by $3,000. The budget change would be to reduce revenue for the General Property Taxes by $3,000 and reduce the expenditure for the Council Contingency by $3,000.
