Widin" <kwidin@mmmpcc.org> Subject: Krongard Construction Cc: Bcc: X"tachments: Kris - Regarding the landscape plan for Krongard Construction Co.'s proposed Valley View Estates 4th Addition, it is very minimal and will not be an asset to the development. If the shrub planting beds are approximately 23' wide as indicated in the drawings, there is not enough plant material in the planting beds to form attractive plantings, even at maturity. 'Goldflame' spirea and junipers have been overused. The river birch/juniper bed by bldg. 1/2 is acceptable; however, the river birch should be multi-stem. What species of maple is being proposed by bldg. 3/4? I do not see a landscape plan for bldg. 5/6 in the packet. I would like to see more thought/design in a landscape plan, perhaps using different plant material, for this development. Kathy Widin Municipal Arborist --A AA-- e-5 AdL.-"nt (•"+ „. I will not be able to attend this coming Planning meeting... nor will I be able to attend the city council meetings as I am travelling on busn each of the nites (ugh!!!) One of the points we covered on the request by Stillwater Motors is that as a condition of any changes... they must switch their PA system to a personal pager system, like Stillwater Ford was also required to do... nothing else of substance as I have not seen the packet yet.... if I get a minute before heading out on the plane next Monday I will send an email with my addnl thoughts...take care and have a great weekend... 1 Kris Danielson From: K.D. Widin [kwidin@mmmpcc.org] Sent: Wednesday, July 12, 2000 10:01 AM o: kdanielson@cityofoakparkheights.com subject: Stillwater Motors Kris- I have reviewed the revised landscape plan for the Stillwater Motors parking lot expansion, and have the following comments: 1. I can understand their reasoning for not planting trees along the westerly side of the parking lot and have no objection to this. 2. The shrub beds between the parking lot and the building with dwarf Korean lilacs are fine. 3. I would like to see a plant list for the beds of assorted shrubs on the SE side of the parking lot. I would suggest something such as a mix of dwarf Korean lilacs and junipers(mature height 24 in.). 4. The flowering crabs by the parking lot entrance should be disease resistant varieties such as'Prairiefire', 'Thunderchild', 'Indian Summer' or'Professor Sprenger'. 5. The deciduous trees facing 58th St are listed as'Green Mountain'ash. I am not familiar with an ash variety named 'Green Mountain'. There is a 'Green Mountain' sugar maple; however, sugar maples are not recommended for --"nese soils. I would suggest green ash varieties such as'Summit', argeson', or'Patmore'. I would also recommend that the ash be limited to three trees and that the other two be hackberry, linden or honeylocust. Kathy Widin Municipal Arborist
