Their preliminary proposal is for the area by the playground tobe beginner type features. The area down the hill, would be more advanced type features and may be of more impact to the cap that exists at the park. Plans would need to be thoroughly reviewed by Xcel Energy and the MPCA if this proposal proceeds. The group made a presentation at the May 16, 2022 Parks and Trails Commission meeting, met with the Commission at Oak Park Crossing Park on June 6, 2022, and attended the July 18, 2022 Parks and Trails Commission meeting as a follow up. The group has not provided a more detailed plan as of yet. They are waiting to see if there is support for the idea from the City before they spend money on preparing anything further. The Parks and Trails Commission plans to meet in a Worksession on August 15, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. to discuss the idea in further detail. The Commission has many elements to consider before they are ready to proceed with a recommendation, but this may be on a City Council Agenda sometime later this year.
