Officers responded to and generated 415 calls for service in the City of Oak Park Heights during this month. Quick Break down for some of those calls for service include: 93 medicals, 0 fire related, 9 thefts from businesses, 17 vehicle accidents, 22 alarms, 3 disturbances/disorderly conducts, 60 traffic violations, 15 suspicious persons/vehicles, 3 mental health/suicide threats, 11 welfare checks. School is back in session and there has been a change of assignments for personnel. Officer Dave Wynia is now the new SRO/Investigator assigned to the High School and Officer Lindsey Paradise is back on patrol effective 9/1/22. Patrol Officers have been directed to increase enforcement/patrol on Oakgreen Av, southbound from th 58 st, after hearing concerns from several residents about speeders and noise complaints. th Temporary stop signs were removed from 58 st at Krueger (Menards). That seems to be going smoothly with no reported accidents. The Police Dept has also posted the police officer position for the replacement of Sgt. Jon Givand. th Applications will be received until Sept 16. This past month I assisted the MN Department of Corrections with conducting interviews for their Captain’s position they have available at MCF-Stillwater. Community Outreach: The Police Department participated again this year with the Night to Unite event on nd August 2. Even though it ended up being the hottest day of the year we still had a nice community turn out at 5 separate block parties. 2 of 29 Training: Officer Wynia attended School Resource Officer training sponsored by the Washington County Attorney’s Office. Officer Fahrendorff attended new officer training for courtroom testimony, evidence, report writing etc at Eckberg Lammers office Covid 19: This past month the police department had seen some scheduling disruptions as a few employees were out with the Covid again. Cleaning protocols reminded to all staff for their desk area and squads. Calls for Service Highlights: 1. Officer responded to Swager park for possible homeless people living under the shelter. Upon arrival, located a couple under a tarp. Transients that had been there all night and promptly left the area without incident. 2. Officers executed a search warrant on a house in Bayport reference stolen merchandise from Menards. Items recovered. 3. Officer responded to Mahtomedi to assist with located a suspect male involved in a stabbing incident that had just occurred. OPH Officer Wynia assisted with the arrest of the suspect located a few blocks away of the scene. 4. Officer attempted to stop a vehicle for 90/55mph zone on hwy 36/hwy 95, vehicle nd fled from OPHPD officer, vehicle and suspect located on 62st near the govt center. 5. Theft report from TCO, employee had their back pack stolen from office work desk area, containing laptop, wallet, keys. Suspect appears to be a patient. 6. Officer assisted St. Croix County Sheriff’s deputies with a felony traffic stop in Wisc. Suspect was shooting roadway signs and was in possession of a pistol along with an assault rifle. 7. Officer responded to the river area of the new bridge for a report of an oil slick or gas. Upon arrival, located discolored slick along the shoreline south of the bridge, dnr contacted. th 8.Sick animal concern on a residence in 55st, sick squirrel with tumors all over its body was dispatched by officer. 9. The City’s contractor built the th road base on 59Street at the Wal Mart Parking Lotas well as th the road and trail on 60Street. Xcel Energy installedGas Main along Norell Avenue. What work is expected for next week? Concrete curb installation will begin on Monday and last throughout the week. We th anticipate work on 60Street th starting on Monday. Concrete work near59and Norwich willoccur in the middle of the week th andwill move to near 59and Kreuger Lane at the end of the week. Will there beany changes to the traffic detour or access to businessesnext week? No changes in traffic access will occur next week. Norell Avenue from Highway 36will be open th as well as the roundabout and 59Street. th Phase 3 includes closures at Krueger Lane and Norwich Avenuewhile the remainder of 59 Streetis constructed.
