Approval is contingent upon meeting the requirements listed below. A copy of the approved plans and this report must be retained at the project location. INSPECTIONS: The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) will be inspecting the plumbing for this project, including utility installations. Please contact Kara Topper at 651/279-3418 for all plumbing inspections. No plumbing work may be covered prior to inspection. The installer must verify that the required inspection fee has been submitted before scheduling. A separate permit may be required for interior plumbing and site utilities. All plumbing shall be installed in accordance with Chapter 4714. All pipe, fittings, traps, fixtures, materials, and devices shall be listed or labeled by a third -party listing agency and comply with the applicable standards referenced in the code (see Sections 301.2 and 1701.1). 2. The horizontal drainage piping must be installed with a uniform slope of at least 1/4 inch per foot (see Section 708.1). Where municipal sewer depth, structural features, or building arrangement preclude this slope, a minimum slope of 1/8 inch per foot may be utilized for piping 4 inches and larger if approved by the authority having jurisdiction. 3. The re -use of existing fixtures is prohibited unless the fixtures conform to the current Minnesota Plumbing Code (see part 4714.0101, subparts 3 and 4). 4. Verify that the existing water supply and waste systems are sized for the added fixtures (see Sections 610.7 through 610.12 and 703.0). 5. Verify the clothes washer is installed in a portion of the building in general use by the occupants (see Section 804.1). 6. A common vent may serve two trap arms connecting to a vertical drain through an approved double fixture fitting (see Sections 704.2 and 905.6). Double sanitary tees are not permitted. The classroom sink located in the workroom may require a plaster trap if the sink is used for art purposes. No plaster traps are shown on the plans or being proposed on this project. Be advised plaster traps are approved for special conditions under Minnesota Rules, part 4714, section 1004.1. Plaster traps when provided or supplied by owner must be in compliance with the following: a. Listed by an independent 3rd party to a nationally recognized standard for the application (Section 301.2). b. Plaster trap must be in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions and Minnesota Rules, part 4714, section 1004.1. c. All concealed interiors must be constructed of plastic or similar noncorrosive partitions. d. Flexible pipe is not an approved material. In no case shall water from roofs be allowed to flow upon the public sidewalk (see Section 1101.2). This shall include the discharge from all rainwater conductors, including overflow roof drains. 9. Each horizontal drain branch on or below the floor level of the building drain shall be provided with a cleanout at its upper terminal with the following exceptions (see Section 707.4): a. A cleanout is not required if the branch is less than five feet unless it serves sinks or urinals. b. A cleanout is not required on a drain that is 72 degrees or less from the vertical unless it serves kitchen sinks or urinals. 10. Unless shower receptors or tiled showers are poured on the ground as part of a slab, they must be lined in accordance with Section 408.7. Testing shall comply with Section 408.7.5. 11. Water closets with integral personal hygiene devices shall comply with ASME A 112.4.2/CDA B45.16 (see Section 411.4). The Swash Thinline T22 bidet toilet seat does not appear to be listed to this standard or any relevant standard in Chapter 17 and may not be installed. Additionally, the water supply connection to this equipment would have to be provided with an approved high hazard backflow preventer which was not shown on the plans (see Section 602.3). 12. PVC solvent weld joints must use ASTM F656 purple primer and ASTM D2564 cement per Section 705.6.2. NOTE(S): 1. The scope of this project consists of remodeling and constructing an addition onto an existing building. The plumbing installation includes floor drains, a clothes washer, five flush valve water closets, five lavatories, four classroom sinks, three showers, a primary roof drain, and three overflow roof drains. 2. The building is served by existing municipal sewer and water services.
