7KHSURMHFWGHVFULSWLRQIURP0U1JX\HQLVIRXQGLQ([KLELWLQWKHSODQQLQJUHSRUWDQG

I purchased the home at 5702 Penrose in June of 2024. Describing it as rough would
be an understatement. The house and garage were not maintained or upkept for many
years. There were water intrusions and most of the wood on the garage was moldy and
breaking apart.

I spent the next 7 months to renovate the house (new roof, siding, ceiling, walls,
insulation, plumbing, and electrical) to my personal liking. I use high end cabinets,
appliances, and fixtures.
In January of this year, I received an occupancy permit for the house and am currently
using it as my primary residence. The house is currently homesteaded in my name and
I’m receiving mail at the residence. I pay all utilities and associated bills for my home.
I travel a lot for work. Given that we live in a beautiful city, I want to make my house
available for short term rental as a minor source of income to help me offset taxes and
bills. The whole house will be listed on Airbnb and VRBO on the rare weekends that I’m
out of town for work or leisure.
I hope the committee approves my CUP for transient lodging. The neighbors that I have
spoke with speak positively of the idea. I also feel that it’s beneficial for the city
because people coming from other parts of the metro to enjoy our city will also be
patrons of our businesses and restaurants. I hope that my application will get approved.
