ESTABLISHMENT OF FIRE LANES
AN ORDINANCE FOR THE CITY OF OAK PARK HEIGHTS PERTAINING TO FIRE
PREVENTION AND PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF FIRE LANES IN
CERTAIN AREAS OF THE CITY.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OAK PARK HEIGHTS, WASHINGTON COUNTY,
MINNESOTA, DOES ORDAIN:
1106.01 Fire Lanes Established.
The City Fire Marshal, or his duly authorized assistant, shall be empowered to order
the establishment of fire lanes on public or private property as may be necessary in
order that the travel of fire equipment may not be impeded or interfered with, and
that access to fire hydrants and buildings may not be blocked off. When a fire lane
has been ordered to be established, it shall be marked by a sign bearing the words
"No Parking -- Fire Lane" or a similar message. When such fire lane is established
on public property or public right -of -way, the necessary sign or signs shall be
provided by the City of Oak Park Heights, and when on private property, they shall
be erected and maintained by the owner at his expense. Such sign shall be installed
within thirty (30) days after notification of the order. Thereafter, no person shall
park a vehicle or otherwise occupy or obstruct a fire lane.
1106.02 Penaltv.
Any person violating the provisions of this Ordinance shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be punished by a fine not to exceed Seven
Hundred Dollars ($700.00) or by imprisonment in the County Jail for not more than
ninety (90) days, or both.
