I visited the site 7/23 and have the following comments: 1. The dead globe arborvitae on the north side of the parking lot appear to have been replaced. one arborvitae in that bed has been pushed over (probably by snow removal equipment) and the burlap is exposed. The shrub should be put back into position and the burlap covered with soil and mulch. 2. The yews in front generally look better} however, there is one b the fire connection that is yellow and not growing. It is a drainage issue. The drainage should be corrected and a new shrub re- planted or a different shrub placed in that location which would be more tolerant of the waterlogged conditions (red -twig dogwood). 3. The back slope looks much better. The river birch should be pruned of dead tips in September. 4. Many deciduous trees on site have some dieba k from transplant stress. A number also show sprouting on or at the bottom of the trunks. The dead branches and tips and trunk and root sprouts should be pruned in September. 5. The wilting trees and shrubs mentioned in the previous inspection memo look better probably due to all the rainfall this year. 6 Trees on the west slope are improperly staked. Wide nylon strapping should be used instead of twine in a hose. There is some trunk damage already. Cathy Widin Arborist City of Oak Park Heights
