Subject: Bahr Project - 58th and Peller /Penrose
OPH Staff -
On July 1st I met with Rodney Bahr at the site of the house to be moved, which is near the Wash. Cty. Govt. Center.
We looked at the trees and shrubs in the yard regarding whether or not they could be successfully moved with a tree
spade to the new home location at 58th and PeIler/Penrose. All but several arborvitae were too large to be successfully
transplanted. Some plants also did not exhibit good form and would not make good landscape specimens. We also
visited the future home site at 58th and Peller/Penrose and looked at the trees remaining on the site I marked an
additional diseased elm which, along with several other diseased elms and a failed boxelder within the r.o.w. for Peller,
will be removed by a contractor hired by the city. Mr. Bahr will hire a contractor to remove the failed boxelder behind the
memorial bench. Several volunteer elm and ash on 58th will also be removed from the r.o.w. in front of the home site.
The landscape plan for this project should be revised to include nursery material for the screen on the west side of the
house. The plan should also include a table of the plant species and sizes to be used in the plan as well as planting detail
which shows how trees and shrubs are to be planted. If you have any questions regarding this memo, please contact me.
