SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
I. Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Mayor Beaudet. Present:
Councilmembers Abrahamson, McComber, Runk and Swenson. Staff present:
Administrator Johnson and City Attorney Sandstrom. Absent: None.
II. Discussion on Potential Land Purchase:
The council discussed the possibility of purchasing land within the city for a potential
third well and water tower, and a potential public works station. A memo from Finance
Director Holst was provided to the council outlining possible funding sources. Mayor
Beaudet reported that first step is to obtain an appraisal.
Mayor Beaudet, seconded by Councilmember Swenson, moved to direct City
Administrator Johnson to schedule a Public Hearing for the July 28, 2009 council
meeting to amend the Capital Improvement Plan for a location for a water tower and a
possible future public works station. Carried 5 -0.
Mayor Beaudet, seconded by Councilmember Swenson, moved to direct City
Administrator Johnson to obtain the services of an appraiser, who may or may not be
agreed upon by the land owner, to determine the value of the property.
Mayor Beaudet, seconded by Councilmember Swenson, moved to amend that funds up to
$10,000 come from the general fund reserve for the appraisal. Carried 5 -0.
Main motion carried 5 -0.
Councilmember Abrahamson reported that he would like the appraisal to be sectioned out
for the property so that it is understood what each section is appraised at.
III. Adiournment:
Councilmember McComber, seconded by Councilmember Swenson, moved to adjourn at
6:23 p.m. Carried 5 -0.
