Subject: Century Power - Landscape Plan and Tree Removal
Kris -
have reviewed the revised landscape plan, the tree
inventory and tree protection plan for the century Power project. I
visited the site 0112 to confirm the tree inventory and removal and I
have the following comments:
1. The identity of landscape plants has been added to the landscape
plan. The seven viburnum shrubs on the south side were incorrectly
identified as 'Glenleven' linden. There are 3 existing trees shown
on the plan but these have not been identified as to size or species.
save two green ash in front of the building when I was on site, are
these shown on the plan?
2. The plant species are acceptable for the site, being hardy,
attractive, low maintenance plants. The chokeberry and snowberry
(which produce a lot of suckers) are being replaced by dwarf Korean
lilac and an increase in Taunton spreading yew. The number of yews
in the plant schedule should be changed from 2 to 0 to conform with
the landscape plan.
3-The tree inventory map is, in some cases, inconsistent with the
significant trees present on the site:
a. there are significant trees, some oak, black cherry and
hackberry on
site which have not been indicated on the tree inventory or in the
tabulated list of trees,
b. the positions of the trees on the map do not always match the
position of the trees on site and some trees indicated on the map
could not find,
c. it would have been helpful to have the clearing limits marked as
requested - I saw no flagging or stakes on site to mark the limits,
a scale on the map would also help,
d. I will need to meet on the site with the landscape architect to
verify the tree inventory and make any changes necessary so the
tree replacement calculations are accurate,
4. The trees which are shown on the landscape plan represent 40
diameter inches of replacement trees. The current calculation shows
a requirement for an additional 100 diameter inches of replacement.
These numbers may change after
verifying the tree inventory. Tree replacement can be satisfied by
either tree planting on site, or elsewhere in the City, or with a
cash payment of $50.00 per replacement diameter inch in lieu of
planting.
