Subject: century Power Landscaping and Tree Inventory
Kris -
I have reviewed the revised landscape plan for the Century
Power project (submittal dated 5/12102) and have the following
comments:
1. The number of trees and shrubs have been increased in the plan.
The number of Amur maple on the plant schedule is 2 but the plan
shows 5.
2. The species and varieties on the landscape plan are generally
acceptable; however, the number of `Glenleven' linden has increased
substantially. This cultivar is prone to stem girdling roots.
Please replace half of the 'Glenleven' linden with American linden,
hackberry, or bicolor oak (a mixture is fine) to minimize future
problems.
3. The number of replacement diameter inches of trees represented on
the landscape plan is 108. The original tree inventory results
indicate a requirement for 145 replacement inches, so there is still
a deficit. The exact amount of replacement inches required cannot be
calculated until the tree inventory is verified.
4. The tree inventory still needs to be verified. I still would like
to meet the landscape architect on the site to verify species,
numbers and locations of trees to be removed /retained so a more
accurate calculation can be made. There are a number of
discrepancies between the free inventory map and the trees on site,
based on my site visit of 6112102. This was covered in my memo of
6113102. The clearing limits should be marked prior to our visit to
the site.
