The second re chan is to use plastic pipe for the water services. With the new confi the sewer and water services will be crossin to the east of the buildin A new set of plans dated 8/14/01 were received on 8/15/01. Runnin under the buildin is allowed under the State Plumbin Codes for private utilities. These pipes will not be considered part of the Cit water s The are a customer owned utilities that must be maintained b the owner. The water pipes as connected to the Cit water distribution s will need to meet the plumbin code para 4715.0510 Water Service Pipe. CPVC C900 is NOT allowed as water service pipe. Pipes under the buildin the must be constructed to the same standard as all plumbin pipes within a buildin The civil desi en has su an option to provide a casin around the pipes as the cross under the buildin The casin is not re b code. The State Plumbin Inspector stated that the casin was not re b code. The installation of a casin will make future repair easier. All places where the water pipe crosses the sewer pipe the sewer pipe shall be 18 inches below the water pipe. Generally, appointments will be scheduled in the time periods of 10:00AM to 11:OOAM and 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM. Connections to City water Mains: Public Works shall be provided notification 24 hours prior to any connection to the City Water Mains. Wet Taps Wet taps to the C ity System will be witnessed by the Public Works Department and subject to a separate inspection fee. The city side of the valves for the wet taps will be chlorinated with a solution of 200 ppm chlorine prior to connection. Water Service Inspection When arriving for the inspection the installer needs to be present. The water service line needs to be exposed in a safe trench and terminated by a valve. (Oak Park Heights employees cannot endanger their lives by entering an un -safe trench. Trenches need to comply with Minnesota OSHA and Federal OSHA trenching safety rules.) Disinfection Pipes of 2 inches or larger will be disinfected in accordance with American Water Works Association Specification No. 0651. Following disinfection the pipes will be flushed and tested for the presence of coliforrn bacteria using a Minnesota Department of Health certified testing laboratory. gate valves added to the system will have the city side of the valve disinfected with a solution of 200 ppm chlorine prior to installation on the system.. Pressure Testing: For water services with copper lines less than 2 inc hes in diameter, the water will be turned on and the system pressurized to inspect for leaks. Lines of 2 inches in diameter or larger will be subjected to a hydostatic pressure test of 150 pounds per square inch for a period of 2 hours. Oak Park Heights Pubw.; wor, ,) Commercial water and Sewer Connections Conductivity Testing: Conductivity testing for iron pipes will be made after p ressure testing with pipe full of water at normal operating pressure. Test will include 350 Amps at 30 Volts for 4 minutes. Current will be measured continuously on an ammeter and shall remain steady without interuption of excessive flucuation. After 4 minutes at 350 amps the currentl shall be raised fo 400 amps for one minute without interuption or excessive flucuation.. Sewer Service Inspection: Sewer service lines will be inspected at the same time as the water service line. The sewer service lines needs to be completed and exposed in a safe trench. (Oak Park Heights employees cannot endanger their lives by entering an un -safe trench. Trenches need to comply with Minnesota OSHA and Federal OSHA trenching safety rules.) The inspector will inspect the line for slope, bedding, materials of construction, depth and other building /plumbing code requirements. Sewer Pressure Testing. Sewer lines in excess of 100 feet, or which has a potable water line crossing (water line below sewer or less than 18 inches above sewer) or systems which have manholes will be pressure tested with compressed air of 5 psi for 15 minutes. Air pressure shall reamin constnat over the test period.
