Subject: DDDLLC Landscaping Phase I & 11
Kris -
have reviewed the revised landscape plan for DDDLLC and
have the following comments:
1. Plant Material -- the varieties chosen for Phase 11 are good
species, low maintenance, with few problems.
2. Tree Replacement - the diameter inches of trees on the landscape
plan exceeds the tree replacement requirement calculated to offset
tree removal along 55th St.. No additional trees or cash payment will
be required as long as all trees indicated on the revised plan for
Phase I and Phase 11 are planted.
3. Planting Schedule - there are a number of discrepancies in the
planting schedule in terms of number of plants actually indicated on
the plan and/or planted on site. The planting schedule should be
changed for Phase I for the following plants:
Amur Maple - 2 (new addition)
Jap. Tree Lilac - 0 (deletion)
Techny Arborvitae - 0
Black Hills spruce -- 0
flowering (Prairie Fire ?) Crab - 2
thornless Hawthorn - 0
Goldflame Spirea - 4
Red Prince Weigela - 2
Gr. Pfitzer Juniper - 6
Champlain Shrub Rose - 3
4. Landscape Plan - This should be changed to reflect changes in
species, or plants not planted and other physical changes:
a. the Goldflame Spirea and Red Prince Weigela indicated on the NW
corner of the
building are not there.
b. the 3 Jap. Tree Lilac just north of the building and north access
drive are actually 2 Amur maple on ends and a flowering crabapple in
the center.
c. the thornless hawthorn at the SE corner of the building is
actually a flowering crab.
d.the plan should also show access from the parking lot in front of
the building to the access drive which goes to the north and then
around behind the building.
5. Mulch - trees in front of the building along Memorial Drive should
be mulched with 4 -6 inches of wood chip mulch from 2 inches out from
trunk to 3 -4 feet from trunk on all sides. Commercial grade black
plastic edging will help hold the mulch in the circle and keep grass
from growing around the base of the trees.
6. Water trees deeply once per week during 1 st two growing seasons.
Water from the sprinkling system may not be enough. Water shrubs by
building also, unless there is irrigation in those beds.
